EnOcean Alliance to exhibit at SIBT 2017: Embracing IoT in the new era of cognitive buildings

/ Press Releases

The organization will be presenting its maintenance-free wireless solutions, creating a network for the integrated control of IoT applications based on the seamless integration of self-powered sensors and switches with local controls, gateways and building management systems.

San Ramon, CA / Shanghai, China,31 August, 2017 – At Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology 2017 (SIBT 2017, Shanghai New International Expo Center SNIEC, 5 – 7 September), the EnOcean Alliance as well as 10 of its members will demonstrate the benefits of the interoperable EnOcean ecosystem for integrated building control and self-powered Internet of Things (IoT) applications. At the joint EnOcean Alliance booth W3 D21, the member companies Advanced Devices, Afriso, Fulham, Menred, NodOn, Overkiz, Thermokon, WAGO, WinShine and ZETTLER demonstrate how their solutions help optimize the utilization of buildings, create new service models and make buildings more flexible, energy-efficient and altogether more cost-effective.
Despite the growing demands for intelligent buildings, many are not built nor used as efficiently as they might, which is important considering we spend 90% of our time indoors, and operations account for 70% of a building’s total cost over its life. Moreover, only 66% of commercial space is actually being used, and while buildings account for 42% of all energy use, up to 50% of that energy is wasted. The EnOcean Alliance is represented by over 400 member companies in 42 countries worldwide, from product manufacturers and distributors to building professionals and research institutions. Together, they built up the largest interoperable range of batteryless wireless products. All solutions are based on the energy harvesting wireless standard from EnOcean (ISO/IEC 14543-3-1X). They power communications by collecting energy from the surroundings such as motion, indoor light and temperature differentials. This enables highly flexible and maintenance-free sensor solutions for building automation, smart home and IoT solutions.

The EnOcean Alliance booth highlights include:

Advanced Devices is a technology-driven company focused on bringing innovative technologies, products and solutions to customers in China and Asia. As a distributor of EnOcean GmbH, Advanced Devices shows the self-powered Dolphin modules. It covers all components – from energy converters, ultra-low power radio and wireless modules to energy management and software – which product manufacturers need to develop batteryless wireless sensor solutions. These maintenance-free, highly flexible devices measure and deliver the needed data for intelligent control systems in building and industrial automation, in smart homes as well as for applications in the Internet of Things.

AFRISO presents its EnOcean-based portfolio, which includes the AFRISOLab product range. It covers innovative building protection solutions (e.g. alarm sensors to prevent water and oil leakage) and heating control. Since the WaterSensor eco water sensors from AFRISO work without a power supply (no cables or batteries) and are operational for an unlimited amount of time, they can be easily placed anywhere without taking additional precautions. The sensors can be installed under the shower and bathtub, in the vicinity of dishwashers and washing machines or in other critical installation zones. If a sensor reports a water leak, the WaterControl 01 shutoff valve automatically closes the water mains.

Fulham, with its official Chinese representative Shanghai Gline-Net Co. Ltd., demonstrates the EnOcean® Niagara® driver, an innovative solution that combines energy harvesting wireless devices with Niagara platforms. Fulham’s wireless transceiver module and licensed driver software allow users to commission, control, and manage wireless switches, sensors, and other EEP standard EnOcean devices without the need for third party tools or processes. A trusted leader in smart building technology, Fulham’s Controls division was formerly known as Control Network Solutions.

Menred, a leading manufacturer of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) control systems, will exhibit its EnOcean-based MIBEE solution at the EnOcean Alliance booth. The intelligent system includes energy harvesting switches and sensors, such as presence detectors and door/window contacts, multifunctional actuators for lighting and shading as well as a gateway that supports the EnOcean, KNX, Modbus, Ethernet and WiFi standards. MIBEE can be used to automatically control lights, shading and security functions. At the same time, the system integrates Menred expertise into the HVAC control system for functional, industrial and residential buildings.

NodOn is a French start-up specialist of smart home devices. NodOn designs a complete range of EnOcean sensors, actuators and controllers to make any house or building smarter. Overkiz is an OEM company and a subsidiary of the Somfy Group, world leader in the automatic control of openings and closures in homes and buildings. Overkiz infrastructure includes multi-protocol gateways, a cloud platform, customizable mobile apps and e-tools, combined with NodOn’s compatible connected devices, form a turnkey solution. Together, NodOn and Overkiz propose to manufacturers, service providers, property developers and retailers an all-in-one solution for any house and building automation project.

Thermokon Sensortechnik presents a range of core products for building management. The wireless batteryless EasySens® sensor system creates an intelligent, energy-efficient building control system, meeting individual needs. Combined with highly design-oriented room operating units, the system enables multifunctional control of lighting, temperature set point, blinds etc. in rooms. The portfolio is completed by traditional HVAC solutions based on a huge range of sensors for the measurement of physical characteristics in buildings, such as temperature, humidity, CO2, pressure, flow, air velocity, brightness and motion. In addition, the company shows helpful and easy to use online tools, which help installers to optimally place the sensors in a building and configure the automation system remotely.

WinShine, based on EnOcean energy harvesting wireless sensors and controllers, develops IoT platform for smart homes, intelligent buildings and smart agricultures, and provides integrated solution and open interface for end-users. At SIBT 2017, WinShine launches its brand new EnOcean/NB-IoT gateway. With lower power consumption, reduced cost of single network, and easier setting, the gateway helps the IoT solution to achieve real wireless from sensor nodes to gateway.

WAGO, the leading specialist for spring pressure termination technology worldwide, will show complete building automation solutions integrating batteryless wireless control tailored to suit individual requirements. This includes a variety of fieldbus products for intelligent buildings, such as BACnet, KNX-IP, LonWorks® and ETHERNET controllers. Different functional modules for EnOcean, DALI, KNX/EIB/TP1, MP-BUS, LON FTT and SMI are also available as WAGO components. In addition, WAGO offers the PERSPECTO touch screen, EnOcean radio switches, transfer modules, power supplies, relays, terminal blocks and WINSTA® connectors.

ZETTLER is a world-class enterprise, engaged in the design, manufacturing, sales and distribution of electronic components. ZETTLER provides a variety of high quality electronic components and solutions on LCM, Transformers, Relay, which are used in a wide spectrum of applications, including home appliances, industrial controls, HVAC/R, mobility, communications, new energy and many other types of electric and electronic equipment. With advanced design and vast collection of global patents, ZETTLER products have been successfully accepted and recognized by many market-leading manufacturers. At SIBT 2017, ZETTLER will show several transformers and switch-mode power supply modules, which carry the required VDE/UL/CUL/CQC approvals and are fully compliant with EN61558, EN60950, UL1585 and UL506.
