The organization will be presenting its maintenance-free wireless solutions, creating a network for the integrated control of IoT applications based on the seamless integration of self-powered sensors and switches with local controls, gateways and building management systems.
San Ramon, CA/Las Vegas, NV – December 14, 2017 – At the 2018 International CES (Las Vegas, January 9-12, 2018), the EnOcean Alliance will show its advancements of a self-powered Internet of Things (IoT). This includes a co-operation with the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) and with industry leader IBM to develop interoperable self-powered wireless solutions as a standard for the Internet of Things. At CES 2018, the EnOcean Alliance will be showing maintenance-free wireless products working within the OCF eco-system, helping to create a fully connected and interoperable smart home and smart building solution. EnOcean Alliance promoter BSC Computer will demonstrate a gateway solution to enable seamless communication in the IoT by connecting the EnOcean wireless standard with leading protocols like IoTivity and AllJoyn. Together with OCF members including LG and Haier, the EnOcean Alliance will be demonstrating cross-trade building automation solutions from the EnOcean eco-system. Together with EnOcean Alliance promoter IBM, the organization will be showing the self-powered “sensor to cloud” IoT solution, which enables the integration of EnOcean´s wireless technology into the IBM Watson IoT Platform to conduct predictive and real-time analysis of facilities. Thus, the EnOcean Alliance combines its expertise in battery-less, wireless intelligent buildings and smart homes with the approach of an interoperable, standard-crossing communication platform connecting everything.

EnOcean Alliance connects building automation with the IoT
Due to strong partnerships with leading organizations of the IT industry, such as the Open Connectivity Foundation, and industry leader IBM, the EnOcean Alliance opens the world of energy harvesting wireless communication to develop interoperable self-powered wireless solutions as a standard for the Internet of Things.

Open Connectivity Foundation (Sands, #42914): The Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) and the EnOcean Alliance partner to deliver seamless, interoperable connectivity for the Internet of Things. The two organizations and its members work together to enable self-powered wireless solutions using the OCF interoperable specification framework for industry-crossing communication in the IoT. The OCF framework works horizontally across and between IoT vertical segments and will benefit companies that want to develop products to address these markets. Using the OCF standard will remove the various “island” solutions and instead provide a common solution for smart home, industrial, healthcare and more. The OCF unifies the entirety of the former Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC) with leading companies at all levels – silicon, software, platform, and finished-goods – dedicated to providing this key interoperability element of an IoT solution.
Ubiant (Sands, #40946): Ubiant will demonstrate its self-learning cloud solution called hemis. It is based on artificial intelligence to minimize energy consumption in buildings while maximizing the residents’ well-being. The system’s core is a cloud platform that connects applications for lighting, HVAC or blind control, as well as battery-less, wireless sensors and actuators or mobile devices, based on the EnOcean wireless standard. The Quickmove standard allows users to install, move or remove all components of the smart home system using a NFC-enabled mobile phone or tablet. Part of the hemis portfolio is Luminion, a smart candlestick visualizing energy consumption and comparing it to the hemis community.
Self-powered wireless sensors
In addition to EnOcean Alliance’s presence, several of its partners will be exhibiting at CES 2018 as well, including:
BSC Computer (Sands, #42914): Gateway manufacturer BSC Computer will be demonstrating a gateway solution for seamless communication by connecting the EnOcean energy harvesting wireless standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3-1X) with the Internet Protocol (IP). Thus, sensors and remote configurable actuators can be linked to the Internet. This is the foundation for the Internet of Things (IoT), a fully interoperable network, where data collected once can be reused for intelligent control of different devices regardless of the used technology, radio or manufacturer.
EnOcean (Sands, #42735): EnOcean, world leader in energy harvesting wireless technology, will demonstrate self-powered sensor solutions based on the EnOcean wireless standard for the Internet of Things (IoT) at CES 2018. In the Smart Home Marketplace, the company will show how wireless switches and sensors can be powered by energy out of motion, light and temperature. The energy harvesting devices, devoid of wires and batteries, enable highly flexible and maintenance-free applications for smart homes and cloud services on the way to the Internet of Things. “To bring sensors to the cloud, EnOcean´s self-powered wireless technology is crucial for collecting large amounts of reliable sensor information. NodOn (Sands, #42737): NodOn will present its plug&play EnOcean wireless and battery-less smart home and smart building accessories. Four new products will be presented by NodOn, offering a complete EnOcean smart home accessory range. A new highlight is the Relay Switch 1 channel – dry contact, an ultra-small device which turns lights, heating system and garage door smart and remotely controllable. The Relay Switch 1 channel can be mounted without construction work, it works autonomously with any other battery-less EnOcean controller such as the NodOn Soft Remote, Wall Switch or Card Switch, or with a Home Automation Gateway. Another new product integrating the range is the Roller Shutter Module. This EnOcean wireless actuator will turn any shutter (roller shutter, venetian blind, garage gates, etc.) smart. In addition, NodOn is launching a new wireless motion sensor to smartly control lighting and heating system to make energy savings, and a Micro Smart Plug, the first ultra-compact CE certified smart plug that allows wireless control and metering of any electrical devices. The NodOn smart home accessory range also includes solar-powered sensors (door/window, temperature, and humidity), smart plugs, battery-less wall switches and remotes.
