The EnOcean Alliance Certification Program is THE tool for the EnOcean Alliance to secure interoperability of EnOcean-based devices without major additional effort.
It also entitles your product to use the EnOcean Alliance Certified Logo and lists your product in the Certified Product Database on the EnOcean Alliance website.
> Enter your product in the EnOcean Alliance product data base. Each manufacturer is able to enter a description, further information’s and upload manuals and product images. You can skip this step if you don’t want to go public with the product presentation at the time of the certification.
> If you still have no access to the product data base please email the certification manager (certification@enocean-alliance.org) to get the login data.
> If your product uses an EnOcean GmbH radio module (868 MHz, 902 MHz, 921MHz or 928 MHz) then you automatically inherit the Air Interface Certificate.
> Otherwise you have to perform test steps described in the Air Interface Certification Specification.
> Just declare that your product implemented correct use of EEPs/GPs according to the current EnOcean Alliance specifications. Or if deviates, then this deviation was documented and published to the TWG chair. Declare that the Radio- and Energy-Performance meets the requirements of the use cases of the product. To declare there is a template available. Just fill out, sign by responsible manager and upload the document to the certification documents section of the product in the EnOcean Alliance product data base.
> If you are applying for “Self-Certified for IoT” certificate, then additionally with declaration that the products support the latest EnOcean Alliance enhanced security (encryption and authentication) specification.
> After latest 2 weeks you will get an approval message and a certificate issued by Email. Or you will be contacted if some information is missing.
The corresponding phases of the EnOcean Alliance Certification Process follow the objective to support the product development process without additional extra efforts:
> Preparation phase: To identify test-cases to be passed.
> Testing phase: Execution and successful completion of test cases defined
> Documentation phase: Documentation of the results of the tests performed
> Review phase: Secure high-level of quality of interoperability
> Promotion phase: Use and market the EnOcean Alliance technology logo for certified products
There are two ways to execute a certification process:
> Self-certification by the device manufacturer confirming a positive pass of the test-cases declared to be mandatory. Usually, these tests have to be anyway performed during the development.
> Certification by accredited test laboratories. A list is available from the certification manager.
To reach these certification levels the following steps have to be performed:
To apply there is a template available.

To support the proper implementation of the system specifications the EnOcean Alliance developed a set of certification specifications following the OSI-layer model:
If your product does not meet the certification requirements it seems that it is not interoperable or does not meet the minimum performance requirements. To secure your business, check whether you can modify your product to meet the certification requirements.
Non certified products are not allowed to use the certified product logo on the product and will not be found in the product database by searching interoperable devices.
No, regulatory testing can take place before, after or at the same time with EnOcean Alliance certification testing.
